Direct cash grants for residential PV: CZK 35,000 (~€1,400) for systems 2–10 kWp. Battery storage adder up to CZK 50,000 (~€2,000) per ≥ 1.75 kWh of capacity. Combined PV + battery + heat-pump packages can reach CZK 200,000+ (~€8,000).
Nová Zelená Úsporám (NZÚ) is the Czech flagship residential energy-renovation grant programme administered by the State Environmental Fund (Státní fond životního prostředí ČR / SFŽP). The Standard track covers single-family homes; the Light track is for low-income applicants with simplified application. Grants for PV are tiered by system size and complexity. Battery storage adders apply when the storage system has BMS supporting grid services and ≥ 1.75 kWh capacity. Combining with heat-pump grants under the same programme creates the largest stacking opportunity (~CZK 200,000+ for full bundles). NZÚ is funded by EU emissions-allowance auction proceeds and operates in continuous calls (no fixed application windows). Eligibility requires Czech residency and ownership of the qualifying property as primary residence.
Czech Republic introduced energy-sharing rules in 2024 enabling virtual net-metering for community and household-level renewable energy. Customer-generators credit consumption against generation on a 15-minute basis with surplus paid at wholesale spot prices.
The Czech Energy Regulatory Office (ERÚ) implemented sdílení energie (energy sharing) rules under the Energetický zákon amendments in 2024. Residential customer-generators can credit self-consumed solar electricity at the retail rate (no compensation for transmission/distribution charges on the offset volume) on a 15-minute settlement basis. Surplus exports beyond same-interval consumption are compensated at the OTE (Czech Energy Market Operator) hourly spot price, typically €0.04–€0.10/kWh. The framework also enables formal energy communities — multiple households sharing a single PV asset under defined allocation rules. Distribution operators ČEZ Distribuce, EG.D, and PRE Distribuce handle interconnection. Application is via the standard prosumer registration process at the local DSO.
Standard 21% Czech DPH applies to PV equipment. Reduced 12% rate (effective January 2024) may apply to installation services on residential buildings under specific conditions related to social-housing classification.
Czech VAT (Daň z přidané hodnoty / DPH) rates: standard 21%, reduced 12% (consolidated from previous 10% and 15% on January 1, 2024). The reduced 12% rate may apply to construction, renovation, and installation services on social-housing-classified residential property when contracted as a single bundled service. Residential PV in single-family homes typically does not qualify for the reduced rate; standard 21% applies. Combined with the NZÚ grant which is calculated on post-VAT cost, the effective VAT burden on residential PV is partially offset for grant recipients.
